Hemogram is a panel of tests which includes Complete blood count (CBC) and Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR). It measures several components and features of your blood like Red blood cells which carry oxygen; White blood cells which fight infection; Hemoglobin the oxygen carrying protein in red blood cells; Hematocrit proportion of red blood cells to the fluid component or plasma in your blood; Platelets which help with blood clotting. Abnormal increases or decreases in cell counts as revealed in a Complete blood count may indicate that you have an underlying medical condition that calls for further evaluation. This test also helps to monitor a known medical condition. ESR is a blood test that can reveal inflammatory activity in your body but cannot pinpoint where the problem is.

A Complete Hemogram is a set of tests that includes Complete Blood Count (CBC) along with Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR).
Complete blood count (CBC) test can help detect hundreds of conditions, disorders, and infections using a small amount of blood.
Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate test is done when the doctor suspects that you have a high level of inflammation in your body.
Inflammation is a response of the immune system to an infection or injury. Inflammation could also be a sign of a chronic disease or another medical condition.
Overnight fasting is preferred.

This test provides information about red cells, white cells and platelets. Results are useful in the diagnosis of anemia, infections, leukemias, clotting disorders and many other medical conditions. ESR acts as an acute phase reactant.
