Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by a bacteria called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It mainly affects the lungs but can involve any part of the body. TB bacteria spread through the air on coughing, sneezing, talking or singing. If left untreated, TB can lead to many complications & can be fatal. Some people are infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria but do not suffer from any symptoms. This is called Latent TB. This test not only identifies the bacterial DNA but also indicates if you will respond to anti-TB treatment by drugs namely Rifampicin, Isoniazid, Ethambutol & Pyrazinamide.
