What is a Uric Acid Serum test?

Uric acid is a nitrogenous compound that is formed as a byproduct of metabolic activities and is eliminated by the kidneys.

Uric acid level in the blood rises if too much uric acid is being produced or if the kidneys are not able to remove it. The presence of high uric acid in the blood, called hyperuricemia, can lead to conditions such as gout, kidney stones, or chronic kidney disease.

The Uric Acid Serum test determines how well the body produces and excretes uric acid.
