Motherhood Journey

Life’s biggest miracle is the gift of having a life growing inside you. Expecting a baby is just the beginning. Pregnancy is a time unlike any other in your life. It’s important to see your healthcare provider regularly to ensure the best outcome. A normal, full-term pregnancy is 40 weeks and can range from 37 to 42 weeks. It’s divided into three trimesters. Each trimester lasts between 12 and 14 weeks or about 3 months.

I Trimester

II Trimester

III Trimester

The first trimester is the first 12 weeks of pregnancy and is most crucial to the baby and its development.

    • In this trimester all of the baby's organs have developed, and movement inside the womb increases.
    • The baby continues to grow and your feelings will change from tiredness and worry to excitement for the baby to be born.

The second trimester is from week 13 to 27.

    • For most women the second trimester of pregnancy is easier as the nausea and fatigue disappear.
    • But new and noticeable changes begin to happen to the mother`s body to make room for the growing baby.
    • By the end of the second trimester, usually by week 20, most women can feel their baby move for the first time.

The third trimester begins from week 28 and lasts till the baby is born, usually around week 40.

    • In this trimester all of the baby`s organs have developed, and movement inside the womb increases.
    • The baby continues to grow and your feelings will change from tiredness and worry to excitement for the baby to be born.

Pre-eclampsia and Important Markers for Detection

Pre-eclampsia (PE) is a condition that begins during pregnancy, usually after the 20th week.
